Every year Four Bands operates a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site where we help people file their income tax returns free of charge. With a new touchless system to ensure everyone’s health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, several staff and volunteers worked through the extended tax season to help our local families. This year, it was more important than ever to ensure tax payers received all of the credits they could, because the COVID-19 pandemic negatively affected so many families’ earning capacity. During the 2021 tax season, we processed more tax returns and brought more tax refunds back to our community than ever before! By helping people claim the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), we added an average of $1,930 to each refund we processed.
1,154 income tax returns prepared and e-filed at our VITA site.
$3,522,698 in tax refunds delivered to our community members.
$698,934 in Earned Income Tax Credits claimed.
